Though the OP mentioned that it was an exagerration, I like how he mentioned 6.6k and then 18 hours of farming. Hell, it takes less than an hour to make that much money if you click on the farming section of this forum.
Kurzick and Luxon armor costs more? Maybe because the armors are of a higher status when compared to something simple from Kaineng. If you can't afford it, don't buy it.
Money is a problem? Well, if you actually played the game out exactly the way the game was intended to be played, you should have absolutely no problem affording 1.5k armor. In Prophecies, you have a long time to collect all the money to get that set of armor. The material prices are much cheaper when purchased from another player. 90 gold per rare material on average, 10 gold per non-rare material. With careful spending and planning, 1.5k armor never costed me more than 15k when I purchased it.
Now, in Factions, the time that you have in order to collect enough money to get your 1.5k armor isn't much. But if you did a fair number of quests on the Shing Jea island, it should be absolutely no problem getting the armor. My Mesmer (who many people believe to suck in PvE) never needed to upgrade armor during the whole Shing Jea portion of the game. Just don't get into a crap load of aggro and you will be fine. Defence at that point of the game? Ha. After completing the proffession quests, I had already amounted about 3k for myself. Hey, that's enough for at least my body armor!
You don't need to Ebay to get rich either. I have a friend, who is a marketplace genius. Buy low, sell high, anyone? I'm sure that phrase kicks in the memory. With careful investments, you can literally make several hundreds of platinum in a few hours. 6 sets of Fissure armor? Fine, maybe the person did Ebay the money, but honestly, this game has been out for a while, and it is entirely possible to amass that amount of money through Ectoplasm drops in the underworld and selling green items that were popular as hell. At one point I had 500k from farming the Underworld alone. Oh boy, that must mean I Ebay'd the whole thing!
The rant that you have proposed doesn't really work out well. It just shows that you are incompetant at learning although you claim that you've been playing since October. A bit of reading here and there even in-game can teach you a lot. "OMFG CHEST RUN GROUP NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW" Why do you think they are so popular? Becuase it could be quite possibly the easiest way to become rich although you are a poor man.
Money isn't tough to make in Guild Wars if you put an attempt to learning the game.

what you gotta do is find out about the new craze item to farm and farm the hell out of it.. Back when Koosun's Fire STaffs were like 80k I could get one every 30minutes or so
the point is, if your getting screwed by the economy screw it back
edit: it didnt last too long though, pretty soon it took an hour to farm and about as long to sell, if not longer.

Ooooooook buddy... Let's get this strait. You're complaining about armor prices in the Factions equivalent of Presearing Prophecies. Yet you insult us who make a lot of ingame money, say we either farm way too much, or get an ebay account. That's just plain wrong.
AT MOST, I spend abuot 2 hours a day farming, and that's only when i decide to do an Elite Mission or Complete Sorrow's Furnace Farm. If you can't make money ingame (trust me I didn't always have much ingame money) then please, don't dis the people who make themselves without cheating or obsession.

If the point wasn't made clear enough, it's the fact that I have been playing for that length of time and trying to learn and having failed.
I'm sorry for not being a marketing genius?
I never once stated I constantly buy materials from the traders, it was an example.
I get materials any way I can, but I often find myself at the traders because nobody is offering the materials I need, or people overprice just as much as people underprice.
I love how everybody is coming down on me about farming FoW and UW when I realise THAT IS AN OPTION. I've stated that about 8 times now because people keep telling me to 'read' about farming.
I also realise chest running IS AN OPTION.
The point of the rant wasn't to say that 'I myself don't have enough money for anything I want, ever.' The point was to state that I thought it was unfair at how difficult it is for some people, PARTICULARLY NEWCOMERS, to make money.
You all keep telling me to 'read', why don't you 'read' and interperet things in a variety of different ways, rather than reading it for what it is and posting the most pessimistic response you can think of.
And for the love of god will you stop talking about farming, I realise I have the ability to farm, I have been doing it and not making enough money and thus I stated, CLEARLY, that I have been considering other ways.

Matix,
A very simple solution, and I extend this invite to you. you're welcome to come along with me and my guild for doing whatever. I never have money but I can make between 10 - 20K in a night. Just moving through out the game from one town to the next helping out guildies or friends.
I'm a complete packrat, so I pick everything up, white, blues and golds (well that ones a given.), even if it's 20gp.

If you'll note the word 'overexaggerated' in brackets please.
But I did not mean to offend the general community that works hard for their expenses, hence why, in a previous post I said I respected those who have workedfor their money. So if by me saying that it seems I am offending those of you who do work hard for money without cheating or obsession, I appologize.
I was merely trying to make a stab at those who do nothing but farm and/or do nothing but sit on ebay wasting actual money on fictional money.

Wait, are you saying that if you play the game normally with the quests and everything, that you can't make enough money for 1.5k armor?
Once again, I took my Mesmer through Factions without the aid of my storage account, and still managed to purchase 1.5k armor within the first few days. How much do I play? Not a lot, seeing that I lurk around these forums for quite a bit.
Methinks someone has been skipping quests and trying to blame the economy.

I know you said Overexaggerated, BUT you were implying that we spent way too much time farming... Saying a long time, and then saying overexaggerated, generally means you are implying we are spending TOO MUCH TIME FARMING a day. In most cases, this isnt true.
Your apoligy is accepted, I was merely making a point.

And another friendly reminder: 6.6k can be made in less than an hour of troll farming if you are that desperate for money.

Ah, and a great build it is!
Only I replace Mending with Dolyak's and the Open slot for Watch Yourself! for the added defense.
Troll farming and Hydra farming are the only methods of farming itself that I have been successful at so far.
Which is why I've considered such methods as Ettin rune farming as I previously stated.
I just find that after about 2-3 Troll runs, the drops decrease immensely, not in quantity but in value.
This may just be me, I don't know.
Troll farming is what I resort to if I ever need a few gp to back me up on something, but I find it takes forever to save a lot of money compared to people who farm FoW or UW and bring back 5-10+ ectos :'(.
It would be glorious to even see one ecto in my pack ... haha.

Agreed, AND I made 10k in one day with the method, it's not that hard either, they have no hope whatsoever of killing you. Unless you lag or they get lucky and interrupt your cyclone axe.

Yeah, I actually found after a while of farming, the trolls dropped nothing but tusks, how horrid. Also, Guildwiki.org for all your build needs, you'll find many useful builds there, farming and otherwise.
Ectos can be made fairly easily, with farming the smites as either A:Trapping Ranger (least of the money) SS Necromancer: 50/50 with a 55 monk. 55 Monk:50/50 with the SS Necromancer. Make one of those characters. OR you could even tank for a FoW team in ToA.

Ah, I wish it took me less than an hour.
In my last post I said my drops decrease after every run of Troll farming I do, again, I dunno if that's just for me, or it happens for others too.
I can make 6.6k yes, but the point was at times I don't feel we should have to resort to farming to make such money.
Missions are indeed a possibility. But the same can be said for farming.
I mostly flipped out at the beginning due to the fact that it WAS a rant, and I was quite aggrivated. So, it's not that I disagree with you or anyone else refuting my opinions by giving examples such as farming or simply playing through the game. I know this can be done, I'm simply saying for beginners, and people who have trouble getting through the game with mild AL armor, that it's unfair at times.
I would say money drops should be increased, but as I said, everyone wants this, among other things which ANet will probably never change, hence my aggrivated and the need for a rant. I suppose.

And for troll farming math -
Approx 700 gold per run.
3 minutes a run if you mess up.
60 minutes in an hour
60/3 = 20 runs in an hour.
20 x 700 = 14 000
Anti-farming nerf possibility adds maybe a 20% margin of error.
14 000 x .2 = 2800
14 000 - 2 800 = 11 200.
You see, trolls are fairly simple to kill, and are one of the poor droppers in the farming world. Figure out the rhythm and it's not half bad.

I also very often like to assume that when people DO farm such places as FoW and UW (or even basic trolls) that they don't do it for very long and still make mass amounts of money. I just find myself farming for 4-5 hours (not quite '18' but then again I don't make mass amounts of money, so ... if I farmed for 18 hours I'd have no life), and barely making 6k. And that's in all honesty. I'll think I've been farming for a little over 2 hours and that little reminder will pop up saying "You have been playing for 4 hours, please take a break."
So I guess there is some time involved. It's the waiting that sucks, and the fact that consecutive runs gets sooooo boring.

Trolls gave me decent golds and black dye while trapping them.
As to the farming anti code, after a while a window will pop up, sometimes you can still farm it, other times all drops cease.

A window? I've never had one but know that after doing a tad too many UW runs nothing rops, so I go do a mission or cap a skill.
Completely serious question too. I've never had a window pop up.

Well, something is really wrong with your technique. If you check out the farming section, you will find many videos that can fix critical errors when it comes to farming.
If you still think that the learning curve for a beginner to make money for 1.5k armor is hard, think again. When I was a beginner, I did quests everywhere and saved up drops while having fun in Prophecies. No problem with money. When I went all independant with my mesmer in Cantha, I did all the quests that came to me. Now, wouldn't a new player want to try everything in the game? I would hope so. Honestly, I havn't met many people with money issues for 1.5k armor.

Well, that's because the Underworld is fairly large and takes time to clear, even for smites. You could go out to Elona and farm the Minotaurs there continuously just to test out the window, but I highly reccommend you not to do it. I was testing out how much gold you can make in an hour there, and the hint popped up. My monk couldn't get decent drops anywhere she farmed for about 48 hours.
Believe us when we say that there is a window, and don't take over-farming for granted. It's hell for two days if you're a hardcore farmer. I know I was back during Christmas break.
